the marvels of port pirie
well, we're here.
it's cold.
we've been pinching ourselves, but we can't feel it because we're numb, so we're still not sure if we're dreaming or not. can someone enlighten us?
liz started her first day of work today - and finished her first day of work too, which is always a good thing. she's working at Cafe Riva, so at least there will be one place in port pirie for a while where we can guarantee decent coffee.
liv has worked day 8 today, and has 52 working days to go. she's been counting since before day one. sad but true.
tomorrow is liz's birthday, and she will be working all morning cleaning toilets. almost as good as liv's birthday, where she was babysitting. i think we may be a little over the whole birthday thing, somehow. well, not the present thing, of course, just the getting older thing. that's overrated. we've been checking out all the pubs - what else is there to do? - oh, and we both now know way more about home and away than we ever thought we wanted to. actually, we found a nice glass of white wine yesterday at the newcastle hotel, which was remarkably civilised. we had to sit out on a freezing cold deck because liz insisted on smoking, but otherwise, all was good.
liv and grandpa have grand plans for liz's birthday that she's not allowed to know about. we're writing this together, and she's going to try to ask, but NOOOOOOO!
we're both tired, but we're actually getting the rest we've really needed, so that's a positive thing. looks like we'll be going to clare valley wine tasting on the weekend - grandpa is going to be tour guide, which should be fun. he's great with the history of everything in this area - a wealth of information.
liz is in the process of completing a painting for the port pirie art prize, which is due friday. liv hasn't done practically anything creative for ages, except very occasionally writing stuff. oh, and making an orange crochet flower for liz to wear to work, since she has to accessorize in orange.
anyway, we need to do our tax and email stuff and stop procrastinating, but be assured, more stories are to come. there's always another story!
oh, and i'm about to finally put some tiara party shots up here. man, we're all soooooo hot!
Liv and Liz
