Don't Tell Tom Gig
1 July 2006 6:49pm
At Don't Tell Tom in Brunswick, listening to Scotty soundcheck.
well, basically he's just playing and the others are doing their make-up and whatever else they think is necessary before going on stage tonight. They're all exhausted, which is ok, because at least my energy matches theirs.
Just met the owner of this place, which sparked my mood up a bit. It's been a crazy time of ups and downs - lots of excitement and lots of sadness mixed in.
I realised I haven't yet written about seeing my family in Daylesford. Well, my parents at least. I'd expected to stay in the caravan with Mum, Dad and the Dog, but arrived in Daylesford to discover I had my own heated cabin with (Oh, luxury!) an indoor toilet and bathroom, so the whole thing was very decadent. i got to hang out with my dog, which was great, and my parents, which was almost as good as the dog.
Actually the whole weekend was lovely. we went to the hot springs and stuff.
it's a bit weird though, knowing i won't see them again until christmas, although hopefully daniel will come to port pirie. must be very weird for liz - she hasn't seen her family in 6 months - no - 4 months, i forgot she flew home to see sarah off.
ok, dinner coming in 45 minutes. might spark me up a bit.
Apparently i'm the only person allowed in till sound check is over, which is kinda groovy. i'm "with the band". i tell you what, if name dropping is a sin, i'm seriously going to hell!
oh, the best thing about this venue is the fact that there's a huge spa in the women's toilet. not sure why, but there is.

Now I remember what you look like, I'll cherish the time we spent together.Dad & Doc had an amazing time too. Bit cool what!!!
that spa is the most random thing, ever. Don't Tell Tom was quite a nice venue i think, kinda home-y. and i went to the gig with my friend Tom, which was kinda amusing, to me anyway. the only thing (aside from the spa) i couldnt figure out was the random bit of red material hanging, almost like a curtain from the ceiling aside from the fact that it was tied in a knot, there was just that one, no other matching one, nothing to join up to. haha i was watching the sound check from the window in the dining room, and tom and i kept trying to come up with legitamate excuses to go in and watch but we knew that it wouldnt happen. was so happy when they played monster. i love that song and i've never heard it live. the fact that i've only been to 3 gigs is irrelevant. :p
